New DX11 Benchmark

They have really had an Apple mentality as of late with their cards.

I think they're just jealous of how AMD is performing at the moment.

Nah, I don't think its that. The have been plagued with production problems with Fermi, because they wanted to start heading their cards into a general computing and make them something more than just for gaming or folding. What they are doing is trying to scrape up every dollar they can. Even though they have plenty of money, no one wants to loose any to competition. So they lock up everything as tight as they can and ride out the market. Everyone and their brother knows the next card is going to be at least 20% faster than AMD right now, so a lot of people that can't afford to buy two cards every year waits, which is probably 90% of the gaming market. The corporate market is not going anywhere. So Nvidia has nothing to be jealous about, they just want the money.

As a side note, in another thread I posted how I picked up a nettop with an Nvidia Ion LE platform. I did some reading, and it turns out, you can do a reg edit, on Vista and Windows 7 and enable DX 10, and gain 50% performance on DX9 titles over the XP install. This just goes to show Nvidia does not even want to compete with their own platforms, with their own partners, so they cripple parts of it just to make more money on their side.

I'm hedging my bets. Dual 5870's now, with another system sitting beside my main system to move them over to should Fermi really kick butt and I end up needing a pair of those as well

My upgrade fund already has what my limit for a pair of Fermi's ready to go. They BETTER not exceed 499 each with them or it won't be worth it. I won't spend over 1000 dollars on a pair of cards. But if they're good enough, I will spend up to that 1000. But I'm still skeptical on how well Fermi will game. This over-focus so early on GPGPU while not talking up gaming at all is scaring me.

direct3d11

its using dx11 mode but it isn't actually rendering in dx11. Kind of like when you have a dx9/10 game and it has older modes kinda like how TF2 has a dx8 mode even though its really a dx9 game.

Some DX11 features work on DX10 cards afaik. Not tessellation or anything cool though

Only a 2fps difference.. Probably no noticeable effects. :/
